Terms of Use

These terms govern access to the public ATGC website and its analysis submission forms, results, notifications and related APIs, operated by LIRMM for the CNRS. Publisher details are available in the legal notices.

1. Scope and intended use

Using the service requires compliance with these rules and the instructions displayed for each tool. The platform is intended for research, education and bioinformatics or phylogenetics analyses. Unless explicitly agreed in writing, it is not intended as a regulated medical device, an emergency service or a guaranteed service for safety-critical decisions.

2. Acceptable use

Submit only data and workloads you are authorised to process. Do not upload unlawful, malicious or rights-infringing content, probe or compromise the platform, bypass quotas, overload endpoints or interfere with other users' jobs or results. Keep job identifiers and access links confidential.

3. Fair use and limits

Analysis submissions, email verification and other endpoints are subject to rate limits, resource quotas and queue policies. The limits and expiry information shown by the execution service apply to your requests; they may be adjusted to maintain availability and fairness. Contact atgc-contact@lirmm.fr before sustained automated use, large batches or institutional integration.

4. Data and privacy

You remain responsible for the legality and scientific appropriateness of submitted data. Avoid submitting personal, confidential or regulated datasets unless you have an appropriate legal basis and explicit authorisation to use this service. Provide only the information necessary for your analysis or support request.

The privacy policy explains purposes, legal bases, recipients, retention and your rights. Accepting these terms, sending a message, submitting a job or continuing to browse does not grant consent to Matomo audience measurement. That consent is optional, requested separately and can be withdrawn through “Cookie settings” in the footer without losing access to services.

5. Availability, retention and support

The service operates on a best-effort basis. Jobs may be queued, delayed, rejected or interrupted by maintenance, security measures, resource limits or tool constraints. Access may be suspended where necessary to protect the platform or investigate abuse. Results are not retained permanently: follow the expiry information provided by the execution service and keep your own copies.

6. Scientific validation and liability

The platform does not guarantee uninterrupted availability or suitability for a particular purpose. Review results before publication, reuse or decision-making and retain backups of submitted data. Responsibilities and liability are determined under applicable law; these terms do not exclude liability where it cannot lawfully be excluded.

7. Licences and acknowledgements

Software, datasets and site materials remain governed by their respective licences and intellectual property rights. Please acknowledge the ATGC platform in publications and other research outputs using its services, and follow any tool-specific citation requirements. Acknowledgement does not replace compliance with a licence.

8. Updates and contact

These terms may change as the service evolves. The version displayed when you access the service or submit a new job applies to that use. Changes to these terms do not create or renew cookie consent. For support or a question about these terms, contact atgc-contact@lirmm.fr.
